About us

Montanista was born from our desire to share the journey. To tell, from real experience, what a destination is like beyond photos and maps. We are not looking for perfect guides, but honest stories that can help you travel better, or at least with more confidence.

We are Sophie and Matías, from Scotland and Argentina. Two curious people, passionate about discovering new places and understanding how people live in them.

We met in early 2019 in Máncora, a small coastal town in northern Peru. Since then, we joined paths and started this adventure together.

As of mid-2026, we are living in Edinburgh, Scotland, after more than six years traveling together and visiting over 20 countries.
